Fractured Tibia and Fibula
Physical therapist Lynn Grabe recounts the rehabilitation of Lauren, an excellent athlete who suffered a severe fracture of her left tibia and fibula in her very first field hockey game. Eight weeks in a cast left her leg muscles atrophied but she hoped to return to sport as quickly as possible for her spring soccer season. Aquatic balance, agility, and sport-specific drills in the HydroWorx pool at Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN aided Lauren’s rapid return to the playing field.
