University of Kansas Sports Facility Goes High Tech with HydroWorx
New underwater treadmill will help injured athletes heal faster

Middletown, PA-Athletes at the University of Kansas will soon enjoy the same training room advantages that a growing number of elite professional and amateur athletes enjoy.

The university will install a high-tech pool with an underwater treadmill built by HydroWorx of Middletown, Pa., as part of the new $8 million, 42000 square-foot Anderson Family Strength and Conditioning Center.

For the past five years HydroWorx has been solidifying its reputation among some of the nation’s top athletic trainers as a force in the aquatic therapy arena.

KU Chancellor Robert E. Hemenway says the new center and its modern amenities will help KU compete for top student athletes.
and when those athletes are hurting, the HydroWorx 1000, the same model used by Notre Dame University, Marquette University, Brigham Young University and others, will help speed their recovery and improve their outcome.

The HydroWorx 1000, one of three commercial underwater treadmill pool models sold by the company, allows injured athletes to duplicate dry-land running or walking form but at a fraction of their real weight. By adjusting the water level in the pool, trainers can increase or decrease the weight the patient puts on the injury.

Other features, such as an underwater video camera and computer monitors allow trainers to easily and accurately diagnose problems and document a patient’s path toward recovery.

The result is typically a speedier, more complete recovery from injury or surgery. That is a bottom bottom-line issue and it is precisely why growing numbers of pro sports teams, universities, and even the U.S. Navy Seals, have invested in HydroWorx pools.

About HydroWorx: HydroWorx specializes in designing, manufacturing, and marketing the world’s finest water therapy and conditioning equipment for the sports, healthcare, eldercare, and fitness markets. The company leads the industry in scientific research and data supporting the therapeutic and rehabilitative properties of water therapy. HydroWorx has sold products in 50 states and nine countries. Among its extensive and elite client list are: Dr. James Andrews, renowned orthopedic surgeon; the Super Bowl champion New Orleans Saints, the U.S. Navy Seals, NASA, the Kennedy Krieger Institute, Manchester United, Nike, the NHL champion Pittsburgh Penguins, the NCAA men’s basketball national champion Duke University, Notre Dame, and Appalachian State.
