How To Pack the Waiting Room of Your Physical Therapy Clinic

When you are opening your own physical therapy clinic, packing your waiting room with patients is always a concern.  To obtain a competitive advantage, you’ve already made the decision to include aquatic therapy in your facility design, now you just need to make everyone in the surrounding areas aware of the new service you’re offering and who can use it.  We’ve surveyed some of our most successful customers and have put together a marketing timeline to help maximize your new investment.

Timeline For Opening A New Hydrotherapy Practice

  1. Select and purchase your aquatic therapy pool of choice.
  2. Select and schedule opening date for facility/poolroom.
  3. Four months before your facility or poolroom opening, place aquatic therapy brochures and looped video in the waiting room for your current facility.
  4. Two to three months before your facility or poolroom opening, mail postcards to prospective patients in the surrounding area.  If you have an existing mailing list, this is a great time to use it.  If you do not have a house mailing list, you can always rent regional list from a list broker or the printer you’re working with.
  5. One to two months before the opening, be sure to mail letters to referring doctors in the area to inform them that your facility now offering aquatic therapy.
  6. Hold a Grand Opening for the public.
  7. Hold an Open House for referring doctors –be sure to feed them!
  8. Resend postcards to the surrounding area periodically.
  9. Continue to seek out new referring doctors, treat them to lunch, show them the pool and the great success stories you have from utilizing it.
