Finding ways to set themselves apart from competitors is critical for any clinic in today’s competitive landscape. The Orthopedic & Sports Medicine Institute saw a significant positive impact on their clinic after offering aquatic therapy for only a few months. Weldon Russo, PT, OT, and OSMI director shared,
“From a purely financial standpoint, OSMI is able to bill at a higher reimbursement rate by offering aquatic therapy on the treadmill—some 20-30% higher than land-based therapy rates—which dramatically impacts the return on investment and our facility’s bottom line.”
When OSMI moved into a new facility, they installed a HydroWorx 750 Series pool with an underwater treadmill, offering their patients the very best in aquatic therapy. Designed specifically for physical rehabilitation, the HydroWorx therapy pool reduces impact on joints as it decreases body weight and provides resistance and support through buoyancy.
Dr. Michael Boothby founded OSMI in Fort Worth, Texas with the mission of applying the most advanced diagnostic and treatment options available, while determining the best course of action for every patient. OSMI treats all types of orthopedic complaints, with a sub-specialty in complex arthroscopic surgery of the knee and shoulder. They serve the student-athletes of Aledo, Brewer, Crowley, and North Crowley High Schools.
“The community impact has been huge, as well. We’ve already had various training and sport-related organizations find us, wanting to contract with us to use our treadmill. It’s been phenomenal. Not only is this pool an impressive visual in our clinic, it allows us to reach all of our patients more effectively—from athletes to geriatrics and pediatrics. I became a therapist to help people move. And there is no better way to do this than in a HydroWorx pool.”
Texas high school football is known throughout the country as physically demanding and socially crucial to its fans and players. Wins mean bragging rights for months in the Lone Star State. So it’s not surprising that several Texas high schools trust the same sports medicine practice, because of its elite group of physicians and therapists, to get their student-athletes back to playing the games they love.
“We truly care about all of our patients and enjoy the most basic and important part of our job—helping people move,” stated Weldon Russo, PT, OT, and OSMI director. “We invest in the very best care for them, including equipment and caregivers.”
