Arthrogryposis Multiplex Congenita
Six-year-old Anna suffers from arthrogryposis multiplex congenita. Her joints are different in structure from healthy joints due to multiple joint contractures which were present at birth. This condition is accompanied by increased muscle weakness. Physical therapist Lynn Grabe of Children’s Hospital in St. Paul, MN details Anna’s aquatic therapy journey. The child had ceased progressing in her land-based physical therapy so her doctor suggested aquatic therapy in the HydroWorx pool. With the help of the pool, Anna’s increased mobility and strength have greatly improved her quality of life.
